Dreams About Death

If there is a smell of death in your dream this can be a sign that there is something in your past which is holding you back and it is time to move on.

If you dream about the death of someone you know think about what traits of their personality you associate with them the most as the dream suggests that this is an aspect you are lacking in yourself. Alternatively, the dream can also be implying that this person is no longer part of your life.

If the person in the dream is sick in real life, this dream can be a manifestation of your worries about them. If you dream about the death of your parents this can show that you are maturing and moving on to a new stage of your life, your existing relationship with your parents is dead and a new one will begin. If your dream involves the death of a child, then your subconscious is telling you that you have been acting in a silly, immature way and it is time to mature and grow as a person. If you have a child, and you dream about their death, this can symbolize their own journey through the life stages and represent a transition from one stage to another.

Death can represent the need for a new start, so if you dream about faking your own death or faking someone else’s death this suggests that you are looking for a change in your life.

If you see someone dying in your dream and know them well, this represents a change in your relationship with that person, perhaps a loss of closeness to them. You may also be repressing or hiding an aspect of yourself which you associate with the dying person. If you see a stranger dying in your dream, this represents an aspect of change in your life which you feel are you not actively involved in or that you feel slightly detached from.

Dreaming of your own death does not have to be a reason to be afraid and can often be seen in a positive light.

It can symbolize a transformation and a sense of self-discovery that is happening to you. You may be moving from one phase of your life to another, you may have achieved a major goal and are ready to move on to a new challenge or you might simply be maturing and evolving. This dream can represent a metamorphosis, moving from the old ways to a new beginning, reaching higher spiritual levels and leaving the past behind. It is often a really positive sign that you are learning and growing as a person and the childish ways of the past are gone. Along the same lines, if someone tells you that you are going to die, this implies that a change is about to happen in your life that you do not have any control over and it frightens you.

An alternative interpretation of this dream can be that you are feeling sad and anxious about the loss of someone or something and you have not come to terms with it in your waking life. You might be trying to avoid some obligation or escape from some demands that others are placing on you and this is putting you under a lot of pressure.
